Workflow is the steps you take when working on a task and what tools you use when doing those activities.
Workflow is the the series of activities that are necessary to complete a task.
There are plenty of tools out there to use when working on projects, more that one person can possibly use all at once. Although tools help us organise our work they are also our biggest barrier. This means that finding and using the tools that best suit you is crucial in having an effective workflow.
I keep a simple workflow to avoid any distractions when working on projects whether that’s a piece of coursework, blog post or working on a website. I have found that I work best using fewer tools and working with no distractions. This means when I work I turn off everything that I don’t need for that task and use my tools to see what needs doing that day and to check my progress on that task.
The Tools I Use…
I have a simple workflow to avoid any unnecessary distractions and actually only use three tools to help manage my projects. These tools are:
Pen and paper allows me to quickly jot down my ideas and make small, daily task lists whereas Keep allows me to set border task goals. I use Trello to formalise my ideas into tasks and use it to keep track of tasks on the projects I am working on.
I use Keep to set boarder task goals. I have this on my phone because that is the device I used the most which means when I used my phone I am reminded on the tasks I have left to do. I then take those board goals and put them into smaller tasks. I make notes of these smaller task on paper. I use Trello to formalise my ideas into projects which clear tasks that need to be completed for that project.
I am a big fan of Trello because it helps organise my projects into achievable tasks that I can track. The features within Trello make tracking projects easier. A few of these features are:
As well as this, the layout and the simple design of the site makes it quick and easy to use. I have been using Trello for just over 4 years for things such as tracking my University coursework assignments, client projects and personal projects.
I feel that my workflow is simple and effective, making it easier to focus on the important part… the actual tasks at hand!
